Aly Mir leading the Bayswater Watch tour

Walks on the Wild Side guide Aly Mir on Bayswater Watch

I never knew Islington was so steeped in punk history. With recording studios nestling in back streets and seemingly innocuous pubs playing host to some of the decade’s most infamous bands.

About Walks on the Wild Side

“The walk was a great way to feel the spirit of the early punk scene, a fresh way to see another side to Islington! We all had a brilliant afternoon out, and enjoyed Aly’s ability to respond to questions with more than just the facts. A great insight.” — Floss Cobb, Angel Upstarts

Discover the site of Tyburn Gallows, locations from the novel Dracula, where Jimi Hendrix first set fire to his guitar, where the Kinks came from, studios and venues used by the Sex Pistols, Clash and Joy Division, all this and much more!

The Guide, Aly Mir, is a history graduate with considerable guiding experience. He has led walks for Business Improvement Districts in central London since 2006. Walks on the Wild Side tours are only available as privately booked tours. These can be arranged at a date and time to suit you.

The walks operate all year round and in all weathers – if it rains bring a brolly! You’ll be able to recognise the Guide – he’ll be wearing a green cap!
